Vacuums

Choosing the Right Compressed Air Vacuum
Compressed air vacuums are versatile tools used across various industries for cleaning tasks where traditional vacuums or regular blowguns may not be suitable.
This guide will help you choose between the three types that Topring offers: drum vacuums, gun vacuums, and personal cleaning compressed air vacuums.
Drum Type Vacuums
They are ideal for heavy-duty applications where large volumes of debris or liquids must be quickly collected.
Here are some of the main benefits of compressed air drum vacuums:
- They often have more suction
- Some models are quieter than shop vacuums.
- Because they do not use electricity to power their suction, they can be used to clean, dry, wet and liquid debris.
- Drum vacuum kits can be removed and easily placed on another drum, keeping different materials separate for recycling or waste management.
Features to Consider:
Capacity: Look for a drum size that suits your cleaning needs. More giant drums require less frequent emptying.
Mobility: Wheels and/or handles for easier manoeuvrability
Accessories: Ensure your kit includes the types of vacuum heads or nozzles required for your application.
Gun Type Vacuums
They are a safe alternative to blow guns for cleaning. Perfect for precision cleaning of machinery, electronics, and delicate components where debris needs to be removed without causing damage.
Personal Cleaning Vacuums
They are designed to clean debris from the user’s body (skin) and clothes, as well as in other circumstances where cleaning with a blow gun is prohibited or not recommended, such as environments where dust and debris pose health risks or discomfort.
It’s important to note that according to the CCOHS, cleaning with compressed air is prohibited by law. Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan specifically mention that compressed air shall not be used to clean clothing worn by a worker, to clean a person, or be directed towards a worker.
Features to Consider:
Filtration: Some models have the option to upgrade from a standard filter to a HEPA filter
Accessories: Some units come with multiple nozzle types to accommodate different types of cleaning. Other units also have the option to choose an Agitator brush, which helps loosen and lift particles easily.
Hose: Pay special attention to the length and type of vacuum hose. Some personal cleaning units come with a static-conductive hose, which helps prevent a buildup of static electricity, which is crucial for some environments.
