Best Practices for Installing and Maintaining Compressed Air Systems

Installing a compressed air system requires careful planning and the right accessories to ensure efficiency, safety, and longevity. Please make sure to use a credible installer to ensure the efficiency and safety of your compressed air system.

Installation Considerations

The facility's layout dictates the mounting style. Choose the method that is most structurally sound and aligned with the environment.

Pipe Layout: Plan the pipe route to minimize bends and ensure efficient airflow. Try to close the network in a loop to facilitate airflow and provide a bypass path when maintenance work is needed.

Pipe Support Spacing: Maintain consistent spacing between supports to prevent sagging, as a general rule, every 3 metres (10 feet).

Accessibility: Ensure pipes and fittings are accessible for maintenance and inspection.

Safety: Properly secure all pipes to prevent accidents and ensure the system operates safely under pressure.

Some of our mounting & installation accessories for air pipes.

Standard Pipe Mounting Clips: Secure pipes to walls, ceilings, or other structures. They come in various materials (metal, plastic) and sizes.

Suspension Pipe Clips: This clip, or clamp, typically consists of a semicircular band with two bolts that allow it to tighten around the pipe, providing a secure grip. When equipped with a cushioned lining, it can also reduce vibrations and noise, preventing wear on the pipe and structure.

Swivel Loop Pipe Hangers: Support pipes while allowing for some degree of movement and flexibility.

Cantilever Arms: These clamps attach pipes to I-beams without drilling or welding. The benefit of no drilling or welding is that it preserves the structural integrity of the I-beam. They also allow for easy adjustment and repositioning along the length of the I-beam, accommodating changes in layout or alignment.

Strut Channels: Metal rails are used to create a flexible mounting system. They can be cut to size and fitted with various brackets and clamps.

Maintenance Tips

Here is one final tip for you regarding maintaining your compressed air system.

We often think about inspecting pipes and other components in our network, but mounting accessories are equally important. Regularly inspect clamps, supports, and mounting accessories for wear and tear.

Using the appropriate mounting accessories and following best practices, you can create a reliable and efficient compressed air piping system that stands the test of time.Â
